Ik vind het fascinerend hoe een mens zich in de alledaagse drukte kan afsluiten van de buitenwereld. In zichzelf gekeerd, afdwalend in gedachten, starend in het niets. 
In mijn recente schilderijen (Urban Solitude serie) toon ik momentopnames uit het hedendaagse leven. Door deze te vergroten onderzoek ik hoe het individu zich verhoudt tot de massa, de alledaagse drukte en de prikkels die daarbij horen. 
Het proces van fragmenteren en spelen met kleur en formaat resulteert in beelden waarin vluchtigheid, verstilling en desolatie samenkomen.

I find it fascinating how someone can block out everything around them, wander off, and stare blankly into the distance whilst being in a crowded place.
In my paintings I show snapshots of everyday life. By capturing these moments I study how the individual relates to the crowd and stimuli.
The process of fragmentation, as well as playing with color and size, results in images where volatility, stillness and desolation come together.
